Starfish, or Sea Star, live on ocean bottoms at both deep and shallow depths. There are about 1500 species of the class Asteroidea. Underneath each arm are hundreds of tiny suction cup feet that the starfish uses to propel itself. At the end of each arm is an orange eyespot. The starfish can not see but uses its eyespot to sense light and dark. A starfish is not actually a fish. It has no gills or fins. It also has no skeleton. Starfish characteristically have five or more arms which are used for movement and to capture its prey. Should the Starfish lose one or more of its arms, it is capable of regenerating new ones.
The sugar starfish features a golden brownish skin color with granular "sugar-coated" surface.
