Praying Mantis - LARGE

  • 1500

Praying Mantis encased in solid lucite. Large Size! Size: 4 1/4" length x 1 3/4" width x 1" depth. The praying mantis is named for its prominent front legs, which are bent and held together at an angle that suggests the position of prayer. The praying mantis feeds mainly on other insects. It is, however, documented that larger praying mantises are able to consume small reptiles and even small mammals or birds. They have triangular heads poised on a long "neck," or elongated thorax. Mantids can turn their heads 180 degrees to scan their surroundings with two large compound eyes and three other simple eyes located between them.
